Finding the right perfume involves more than simply smelling the scent from a bottle or spraying it in the air. Each of us has a unique body chemistry based on genes, hair color, the environment we live in and our skin type. Different body chemistry means that a fragrance will not smell the same way on everyone, and it is important that when purchasing fragrance you try it directly on your skin to ensure that it is the right one for you.
Hair color plays an important role in the selection of the right perfume. Blondes often have fair skin, which is normally drier than the skin of those with darker complexions. This means that fragrance will evaporate quickly on their skin. Blondes should choose multi-floral fragrances, which tend to last longer. Brunettes normally have medium to dark skin, which tends to have more natural oils. This allows scents to last longer. Redheads are normally quite fair and have dry skin that may not be compatible with fragrances that are made of green notes. (Perfume is made of notes that are broken-down categories of top notes, heart notes and base notes. The notes are mixed in different formulas to create various scents.) The right perfume for a redhead is a light scents that will last longer than a heavier perfume. Environment should also be considered when choosing the right fragrance. Heat increases the scent of a fragrance; therefore those who live in warmer climates should wear lighter scents. For those who live in a colder environment a heavier scent is preferred. The same guidelines hold true for the changes in the seasons. Lighter perfumes can be worn in the summer with headier scents worn in the winter. |
