While outdoor lighting is certainly functional, lending security to one’s property, outdoor lighting is also something that can be esthetically pleasing. In fact, the right landscape lighting can make one’s home look and feel inviting. Landscape lighting can be used to illuminate stairs, decks, pathways, beneath shrubbery, and underwater lighting can be used to make a swimming pool appear almost mystical in the evening hours. Gardens are made complete when there is outdoor lighting to emphasize a gardener’s hard work and loving care. Finally, gazebos can be dressed up with lighting and driveways can be made to look quite attractive when accentuated with outdoor lighting.
Flood lights are common outdoor lighting used to draw attention to areas with large shrubs and small trees. Meanwhile, for extremely small bushes and gardens, recessed lighting adds the perfect effect. Some recessed lighting is solar, while other recessed lighting is illuminated via wires buried in the ground. Solar lights don’t burn as brightly as the recessed lights do so the effect is a bit different. When using outdoor lighting to enhance any area of the yard, it is important that the lights are installed just right. Aiming the lights in the wrong direction can affect the overall appearance of the area. If lining pathways, the lights should be placed at an equal distance apart from one another, and there should be the same number of lights on both sides of the path for symmetry purposes. Also, lights, if inserted into the ground, should all stand at the same height. |
